FINN, Helen Audrey (Abernethy)– December 22, 1924 to August 8, 2016 Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on Monday, August 8, 2016, at the age of 91. Helen was the loving wife of John (Bud) Finn (deceased 2008). Loving mother of David of Montreal; Bruce and Barb of Elmira; Brian and Felicity of Wellesley; Stephen and Karen of Wellesley. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Kelly Cluett, Curtis Cluett; Heather Finn (Eric Oh), Robert Finn (Lynea); Allen Finn, Henry Finn, Jesse Finn; and Kimberly Finn. As great Nana, she delighted in holding in her arms Finn and Nellie Oh, and Benjamin and Kaitlyn Finn. Sister to Bruce Abernethy (Diane) of Owen Sound; Harold Abernethy (Sharon) of Campbellford. Helen will be fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, Harold and Dorothy (Browne) Abernethy; and her brother Donald (1989). Helen attended Malvern Collegiate in the Beaches, Toronto, graduated from Women’s College Hospital Nursing Class of 1947, and maintained her Alumni Membership her entire life. She lived in Wellesley, Ontario for sixty-four years, raised four sons, supported her community as a member of the Board of Trade and the Wellesley District School Board, while taking an active role in her husband’s medical practice. Helen enjoyed 60 years of time spent at the family’s northern Ontario cottage, and swam every year right up to the summer of 2015. Her family invites relatives and friends to come to the Muskoka Room at Luther Village, 141 Father David Bauer Drive, Waterloo, on Sunday, August 14th from 2 to 4 pm, for an informal gathering to share stories and memories of Helen. In Helen’s memory, donations to St Mary’s Hospital and Grand River Hospital in Kitchener would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
